About

Between June 15th and July 5th Derek, Merry, Kate and Rachael Sweatman, and Alan and Andrea Long will be traveling to Kenya to serve on a short term mission trip.

Who will we be traveling with and Why?

mother-and-child

We will be traveling as part of a group of 23 others from across Victoria under the auspices of Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Wycliffe Bible translators are a group that work all over the world translating the bible into the local language. In Kenya they are known as Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL). The experience for people all over the world has been that people receiving the bible in their own heart language find a strong sense of ownership of their faith and a much greater sense of relevance and understanding of God.

Along side this; Wycliffe sees a great importance in caring for the physical wellbeing as well as the spiritual wellbeing of those they work with. So it is through this desire to support the local people holistically that the vision for short mission trips was developed.

Our Mission team’s objective is to demonstrate God’s love through the provision of free medical clinics in isolated areas where regular health care is not available in Kenya.

It is through these ministries that we hope that the local people will be able to see the practical expression of God’s word.

Where?

At our first medical clinic we will be serving the Samburu people out of Maralal and at our second clinic we will be serving the Orma people in the east of Kenya.
