Our Playgroup. Our Family. Our Community
At North Ringwood Uniting Church Playgroup, we want to foster an environment where children are loved and nurtured to be all that they can be. Our fully trained staff and volunteers make sure that your child feels safe and loved the entire time they are present, and you can have peace of mind that your child is in a place where they will develop as one of God’s children.
What Our Families are Saying
Activities
Play Time
NRUC Playgroup offers a wide variety of activities for children (birth-school age) to practise and expand different abilities.
Through play, social interaction, construction, and art, children have the opportunity to learn about their world in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment.
Art
Each week we offer a different craft that correlates with a theme and/or story read at the end of the session. Easels or painting stations are always available for kids to express their creativity through the use of colour, shapes, stamps, paint, and much more.
Story Time
Story time encourages us to teach children about listening and engagement. It is a time for parents/carers to set an example of how to listen and be involved in a group setting. We always start with a welcome song that engages each child individually, followed by group interactions (guess what is in the story today with hints inside a box).
Music
At the end of every Playgroup session we conclude with singing and dancing. Creative movement is encouraged, and spatial awareness grows in this environment. It is not only fun, but also a special way to connect as a group.
Meet Judith – Our Playgroup Coordinator
Judith comes from a ministry family and has been involved in children’s and youth ministries for as long as she can remember.
She has a passion for people and being able to “give back”. The role as playgroup leader provides her the chance to do just that; she feels privileged to be involved and able to share in the lives of the families that join at playgroup every week. She enjoys working with children and loves coming up with new and innovative ways to help children play, learn and grow.
Judith lives locally with her husband, 2 boys, 2 goldfish and pet yabbie ‘Bluey’.
Meet Karen – Our Playgroup Team Leader
Karen has been involved with this playgroup since 2013. As a parent, she knows just how busy and wonderful those early years can be, especially with three children under three and a half!
Playgroup was an amazing help for her family during that time, and all her kids loved it and grew so much there. Now, Karen gets to be part of that same wonderful experience for other families, and she truly enjoys interacting with the children as they play, explore, and learn new things every day.
Outside of playgroup, Karen loves to spend time with her husband and 3 kids watching or playing sport and hanging out with their dog Miley.
